Hose clamps can often be used to fix water leaks in pipes and hoses. I was digging a hole to plant irises from a 3 gallon pot, when I hit a PVC pipe and put a crack in it. You may be able to see the line of the crack in ¾ inch pipe. Normally, I would fix a crack or break with a repair kit or fittings and glue, but that wouldn’t work in this case because the pipe couldn’t be dried.
The 2nd photo shows how I used 3 clamps to squeeze a section of bike inner tube over the crack. In most cases, I cut the strip of inner tube and wrap it around the pipe to cover the leak and then place a clamp over it.
The 3rd photo shows how you could splice in a connecting tube to mend a break. Note that the upper repair still leaks. I had wrapped electrician’s tape and applied a clamp. Normally that might have worked, but when I removed the clamp and tape after the photo, I found there were numerous small leaks, so I cut out the section and spliced in a larger tube.
If fixing leaks is something that you might try, check out the Amazon site in the last photo. I was really surprised at how cheap stainless steel clamps are. The black strip I am holding is a typical piece of bike inner tube that could be wrapped around a pipe or tube and then covered by a clamp to stop a leak.
